The opposition SPLA-IO announced they have recaptured the strategic border town of Akobo in eastern Jonglei State from government troops following fighting. The opposition-appointed commissioner of Akobo said SPLA-IO fighters retook the town near the Ethiopian border after overrunning positions previously held by the SSPDF.

Leaked documents show the Internal Security Bureau flagged “suspicious cash withdrawals” totaling $2,016,000 made over a six-week period.
South Sudan forces blocking aid amid mass evacuations, rights group reports

Human Rights Watch reported that South Sudan’s military and opposition forces have blocked humanitarian access and unjustifiably ordered civilians to evacuate populated areas. Hundreds of thousands of civilians have been forced to flee their homes, schools, and businesses as a result.
